To hold state and federal regulatory agencies and polluters accountable for their failure to protect the Penobscot River from mercury contamination and other pollutants; to educate and organize Maine’s citizens around the dangers of mercury and other persistent toxic compounds present in the Penobscot River; to strengthen citizen involvement in the decisionmaking processes concerning the contaminated Penobscot River sediments and HoltraChem site cleanup; and to build a powerful regional citizen’s organization to advance environmental interests.
