JMF has been promoting a national transition to clean energy for over twenty years, but for the last decade, we have focused exclusively on making the New England region a clean energy leader and model for the rest of the country.
The world’s scientists agree: the climate is changing and humankind is largely responsible. Global temperature increases over the last century resulting from the use of fossil fuels have already begun to impact the ecosystems that support life on Earth. We’ve seen increasingly severe droughts in some places, intense floods in others and rising sea levels along our coasts, all of which threaten the communities in which we live and the environments that support us.
Our goals are to reduce New England’s greenhouse gas emissions 20% by 2022, put the region on a trajectory to reduce emissions 80% by 2050, and in so doing, build a clean energy economy that makes New England a leader on climate solutions.
This will require a complete reimagining of the way our region produces and uses energy. To achieve these goals JMF is supporting efforts to:
