To develop and advance initiatives directly addressing the shortage of abortion providers both regionally and nationally. They include: promoting hospital-based services; expanding the roll of family practice physicians and advanced practice clinicians (nurse practitioners, nurse midwives and physician assistants) in abortion care; stimulating and strengthening abortion training in medical and nursing education; and promoting public awareness of abortion as a mainstream health care service and choice.
